Bedroom Layout Snafu

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well!

I recently moved into a new place and am looking to put a cozy book nook into my bedroom. While I start the prowl on Facebook marketplace, etc. for furniture, I’ve been having trouble with the feng shui of the whole thing.

I want to try and prioritize the view of the rainforest for my book nook so that I can both read and meditate while looking out at it. I’ve used the yellow-topped tote as a placeholder for where I’d set up the nook, however, it doesn’t feel all that great.

In short, I was hoping some of you might be willing to tear my proposed floor plan apart. Most importantly, I have two questions:

1.) Where would you put the book nook given it’s my #1 priority?
2.) Should I even keep the wardrobe granted I also have a small closet? I could also try converting it into a bookshelf of sorts.

Let me know what you all think or if there is anything else you believe I might be overlooking! Thanks in advance :)

Worth noting that the room is, in fact, larger than 1.8 m^2. I accidentally used cm when creating the floor plan :)

The site is USA. Skip the computer program., do a simple black and white drawing with feet and inches for everything, file it as a jpeg and upload it.

Sq feet matter not - entry points, closet location, windows etc. Feet and inches.

I would want the book nook/meditation space in the window corner. Add a rug to define that space and get a comfy chair that swivels so you can look out either direction, or have the light at your back. Try turning and moving the wardrobe to where the tote is; move the bed as close to it as you can and still get the doors open. That will allow you room for end tables. If you need more room for the nook, Put the head of the bed on the wall where the tote is and the wardrobe on the same wall where it is now, but at the opposite end nearer the window. If allowed (don't know if you own or rent), paint the wood cabinet doors the same color as the wall so they disappear.

I suggest you go read about bedrooms and feng shui if that is something you are into. There is lots of info online ,Is that a blow up bed ? If so start with a proper bed for sure sleeping on vinyl not ideal for sure for many reasons. I do agree the reading nook by the windows for sure . If you post the floor plan here in a comment you will get a lot more help for sure. DO NOT start another post .

What geographical location, roughly? What direction do the windows and door face?

The interior window with closed shutters needs a better solution. Are you renting or buying?

    Olychick's plan works well.

The thing that bothers me is that the windows don't match. I'd move the bed so that the head is under those windows /centered ... and a nightstand /lamp on the right will disguise the shorter window's existence.

Once you get your bed in place, add wonderful linens in whatever color you favor -- this is an opportunity to bring in color, pattern and texture. Nice pillows, etc. The bed will be the first thing you see upon entering the room, so make it fabulous. I know you said the book nook is your priority, but splurge on your favorite colors and plenty of comfort.

You won't need any artwork over the bed because you'll have the windows. You do need some artwork on the wall to the right of the bed.

Those brown curtains aren't doing you any favors. They echo too closely the ceiling beams (which are great on the ceiling, not so great in fabric form on the windows). Do you need curtains for privacy or sun protection? If not, consider "going bare". If you do need curtains, choose something that'll pair nicely with the bed linens -- personally, I'd like to see a floral.

Build in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves on the wall you don't see as you enter. In front of those bookshelves, add an overstuffed chair (with footstool), a small rug and a small table to hold a drink and a lamp (alternately, consider a hanging swag lamp over the chair).

Only potential problem: What's that door thing on the wall? If it's a cabinet, you could build the bookshelves around it.

    the feng shui

Who actually cares about old Chinese superstitions?

Should I even keep the wardrobe granted I also have a small closet?

Do you need it for storage? That's your answer. I don't see it becoming a bookshelf.

I would want the book nook/meditation space in the window corner.

I agree it'd look great in that position, but you could only have bookshelves up to the bottom of the window ... could create a nice window seat, but I'd rather have floor-to-ceiling bookshelves on the other side. Plus that'd push the bed back to the entry wall ... and beds look best if you approach from the foot.

Is that a blow up bed ? If so start with a proper bed for sure sleeping on vinyl not ideal for sure for many reasons.

Really -- did anyone think for a minute that the blow-up bed was staying?

I agree with the head of the bed up against the windows at first glance but if you want to maximize the view the bed would have to go where the tote is, nice comfy chair prayer area where the bed presently is and fill that window corner with plants. If you keep the wardrobe find a better spot than up against the bed. It appears your room is a blank sleight. No major pieces purchased yet. I envision a platform bed, no head board. If you keep the bed where the blow up is then wall hung side tables fit the vibe. I think the world moved on from the feng shui thing so you're going to have to seek out that community as it's not main stream enough to be huge here.

but if you want to maximize the view

But the book nook, not views have been mentioned as the priority.

It appears your room is a blank sleight.

It is very much a blank slate, but it has good bones -- very nice windows and hardwood floors.

I envision a platform bed, no head board.

    Perfect!

wall hung side tables fit the vibe.

Wall hung side tables would fit in nicely ... and if you put the head of the bed against the window, you can still have ONE under the shortie window.

For Feng Shui the bed should be between the beams, under your lights. So move or remove the tall bureau so it doesn't block the wall niche wooden doors.

The reading chair could go at an angle in the corner with the windows. A floor lamp behind it in the corner for reading.

A bookshelf under the far right window.

You need at least one bedside table with lamp.

And artwork and a rug in colors you like. A plant.
