I also completed a housewarming gift for my friend. My favorite apricot twist pattern with a shell border, but done in super chunk, it is *very* heavy. Would be great for a weighted blanket. It's also very large...sized like a twin bed as she is the shortest in the family at 5'10"! I may end up making her another that is lighter in weight...

I used less than the pound of love in both colors.

The pattern C2C is Corner to Corner and there are lots of videos on line showing how to do it. It's quick, easy and worked diagonally.

I had the baby blanket over half done when I left and finished it on my return. I knew I wanted a 2-color border so I started with candy cane and then ripped it out as it was driving me nutty with all the yarn twisting...too fussy for me. So then I came across the moss stitch as a border which was much faster to do.

Very nice. I'm sure they will be treasured. One of my most special gifts when my oldest was born was a blanket my mom's cousin crocheted.

The baby blanket can go with that baby as they grow, it will be a nice throw or lap blanket for movie night.

SeaSea, I hear you! I only do it when I can set aside time to just sit and crochet...usually while half watching an old movie or in my yarn group chatting.

Orchidrain, it looks far more complicated than it is...it's really an easy stitch and very fast. And it looks the same from both sides so no right or wrong to it. It's also good for doing mosaics if you wanted to do say a monogram or a flower.

i have no idea what we will start with, but it is a beginners level. only 4 in class so we will see how ot goes.

Sounds good Lyban, have fun, be patient. Most important thing is to learn to read your work. Next most important is learning to control the tension. The rest of it is easy...just where you stick the hook and how many times you wrap it.
