To give any advice we need a floor plan showing all dimensions, access to the room and windows. The pictures you posted don't show the entire room.

Do you like and use the fireplace? If not, consider removing it. I did that and my room became so much more useful and easy to decorate. Not expensive either.

IMO the furniture is way to bulky for the space and yes we need a floor plan to scale . Is the FP working? Removing it is not a simple task if it functions .. Take those drapes down or get at least one more panel ideally 3 more .I usually just ignore corner FPs and lay out the furniture as if it is not there .

Yes, move the dresser if need be and place the chair in the corner or under the window at an angle for the fireplace. Place a floor lamp behind it and a footstool in front of it near the fire.

The ottoman can't be used in this room...any other spot? Foot of bed?

The chest looks okay there but it needs a lamp, maybe a mirror or art.

Go much lighter for draperies.
