Is it to the left of the gas meter where the house juts in? Sciadopitys verticillata would look good there. They're slow growing, so unlikely to outgrow the site in the next few decades. There's also some dwarf forms if you wanted to keep it below the window line over the next twenty years.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, that's the spot. That tree is definitely interesting but looks artificial, like plastic to me personally. Maybe I'm weird or I've been around too much plastic in my lifetime. I'll add it my list to consider though, thank you.

Where does the water from that downspout go?

TJ, it goes underground and away. That spot is even rather protected from rain. There is one window well back there which never has water sitting in them unlike others.
