I have a fabric ottoman with a waterfall table that slides over it - just like the second one shown above. I wanted a sectional or chaise - this ottoman allows me the function of a chaise - with the flexibility to move furniture around much easier.

Do you have a scaled drawing of your room? It just needs to be a simple drawing (can make one with a ruler - 1/2" = 1' if you don't have graph paper) - that shows all dimensions? If you added one (with measurements for walls + for all windows/doors/fireplace/openings into adjoining rooms) - people will be able to suggest furniture that will fit your space.

For example, two chairs would be great - however, will those chairs impede the walkway aisle that leads to the back door?

It is worth the little bit of time it takes to make the drawing - you will receive exact layouts that will work in the room.

Do you know how many inches your current sofa is? I assume that you want to keep it since it was purchased just a few yers ago.

Yes- exactly! It’s basically brand new so I’d ideally like to keep it. It’s 81” measured at the bottom, and 89” including the rounded arm rests.

I am going to look at some stuff. Hopefully, some pros will see this post to help with the best layout. @JAN MOYER - do you have a layout idea for the OP?

This upholstered bench could act as a divider between the two rooms, also as to not block the walkway to the door, or the sightline to the fireplace. A gray color to tie into the fireplace.
