To paint all the sofit or not?

Hi, all!
This is a photo of the living room in the house I just bought (items pictured are those of the previous owner), and which I'm about repaint all over. My question is: should I paint the bottom of the soffit (textured like the ceiling) the same color as the wall beneath it, or not? I feel that the stripe of white soffit-bottom is distractingly eye-catching, but I'm not sure if painting all the soffit the same color would work, if there's a texture difference.
