I need help picking a bathroom remodel layout

We are preparing to remodel our second bathroom and would like some advice on which layout you would go with.

The bathroom is a shared bathroom for two upstairs bedrooms with entry from the hallway. It is also the only other bathroom aside from the primary bedroom, so we prefer guests use this one. Currently, there is a 72” vanity and a 32” wide tub/shower insert.

Do we…

leave the layout as is and just remodel with a new, same-sized vanity, tile, and new shower?

or…

Split the bathroom with a wall to separate the vanity from the toilet and shower by installing a 60” vanity?

If option 2 is chosen, do we do the 60” vanity with one sink? Do we do a pocket door instead of a traditional door? Any other considerations?

I agree the current layout is optimal. All new fixtures, fittings, tiles and lighting will give your guests a lovely and practical room.

I agree just all new and thta includes the flooring and much better lighting . I am not sure about buget but I like acrylic tub/ showers they are eaasy to clean look nice and are affordable. The new vanity with more and larger drawers and a nice low profile one piece toilet too . I like 12 x24 porcelain tile for the floor and if you choose a tiled shower then the same tile for the shower walls

Well - you don’t speak to the number of people using this and do they all get ready at the same time or not? If you have a numerous kids all getting ready for school and bed at the same times then a split room makes a lot of sense. If not then keeping the larger room is fine - and two sinks vs one also goes back to who is using the room/times, etc.

I agree with think design. In some cases, the privacy issue for toilet and showers outweighs the open feeling design wise.

Although our family of five kids shared one bathroom, we also used my parents bathroom which was on the same floor if necessary.
