with all the other improvements, I would remove them.

Beams in a room with a stucco fireplace seem to me to be in the same style. I would keep them. They go with the arched openings in the wall.

Replace the fan with either a fixture or a better fan.

I'm not sure there's that much different between a painted brick fireplace & one covered in stucco. You could save a lot of money just painting with a sand paint.

Sounds like a wonderful plan! keep those beams and paint them white! looks like you want a bit of a European style in the room…I love the arch…fireplace will look so much better!

I love beams. I would keep them. They seem to tie into the trim down the hall to the front door.

I hate fake beams and for sure dark ones that bring that ceiling down ideally remove them and that dark trim ,easier paint it all the same as the ceiling . No fan but a nice light fixture for the style you are going for.

With a medium tone wood floor, they’ll look much better. I would decide on the beams after you get the floors. They seem to go with the house from the photos, but if they feel “too close” then just paint them the same color as the ceiling.

I would be painting all the trim white including the beams. They aren’t amazing but add a little visual texture.
