You're not showing all four sides of the space. Where's the entryway?

Keep in mind that you're inviting some design pros and people with a design eye into your home via photos. If they walked into your actual space, they would take in all of it: all four sides, doorways, floors, windows, ceiling, built-in fixtures, lighting, trim--the "givens"--then the features that can be changed--furnishings, paint, art, rugs, decor items, etc. It's all one first impression. Same thing with photos. That's why it's important to provide well lit photos of the entire space, taken from all sides of a room regardless of the size of your problem.

put a sofa table behind the sofa facing the tv or put two sofas facing each other

You have a lot of room there. I would turn the couch ( for better tv viewing ) and add a sofa table or piece of furniture behind it.

My suggestion is to turn your sofa around and place a console table behind the sofa.

I love this idea! Thank you. I was worried because walking into the room this is what you will see (back of sofa), but I love it.

Slide the furniture into that suggested arrangement and determine:

1. If the rug will still be large enough for the space or will you have to go up a size
2. If the tall back height of the sofa is off putting as you walk into the room
3. What is the best height for a console table when the sofa back is that tall.
4. What is the best length for a sofa this long

IMO the sofa faces the TV unlees the TV watchers sit only in the chairs . The sofa table a great idea IMO you need some visual warmth in the space so drapes for me would be an answer for that Have you checked out Besta from Ikea for that TV wall it can give you some storage a bit of display and have the TV a the proper viewing height maybe besdie the FP too.

IMO the ceiling fan is too small for this room and the light on the fan should never be turned on.

Do you only have two down lights at the end of the room, because IMO the TV should be centered between the downlights bu that will create all manner of problems with the furnishings layout.

There are 4 lights in the ceiling and yes, it is a little off center. Agree that the ceiling fan has to go (new home with some builder grade finishes).
