Help me design this TV wall please!!!

last modified: 5 months ago

Help me redesign this TV wall space! We bought this lovesac and I built a table for lamps behind which I love, but now I can’t stop hating the TV wall. I believe I need a taller TV stand and to mount the TV.
*Tv is 58”. Current stand is 21”H 57”w.
What do you think?

Color of furniture, textures, etc. How do I work around this wall that has the door to the basement, thermostat, and smoke detector? What am I missing? Do I paint, add some wall moulding? What ideas do you have?

**Please see the whole room. Although there are other things I’d like to change with artwork, all is staying for now as TV wall is the priority. Also, I don’t love the current stand enough to try and add legs because it is HEAVY and I’d love maybe a little more storage for kids junk.

Thank you!!!

It's not a vent above the door.......it's the classic thirty something "word sign " : )

    Perhaps......

    ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK......?

I should know by now to trust you all! And that you were right!

Amazing! pantry door still needs another coat but it looks so good- I LOVE IT!

ok but my porch door- i dont love the white…is it just me? maybe its too stark white? should i color drench it as well?? paint it like the other doors in this room to match the walls as well?

Hands clapping!!!! I think mission accomplished, and I'd leave the French doors alone, because its a match to windows , pillars, etc. THESE were different, and soooo much better painted less distracting , blob afterthoughts in the wall: )!

Amazing how the basement door recedes now! Glad you are happy with it!

how could i elevate this doorway space? bigger mirror? I do not want hooks to see visual clutter

I already have a bench next to staircase.

By not worrying about it: )

    It's a lot "plop, you're in"

There's a heat run, a door swing, an electrical switch.!

About the ONLY thing you can add? An open tall back chair to remove winter boots, a bit bigger mirror. Ladder back adds height and interest under the switch. ..... looks and is useful.

You can ALSO measure the length and FULL width of the foyer passage, front door , past the stair, to the posts at the new dining room.

A looooooonger rug.... a wider rug, and pulled forward of the heat run.

You 're defining the tiny with the entry mat: )

Think bigger, more important and LESS

    HERE.......

lose the tiny tack on stuff over the bench. Hang ONE picture. Have ONE lumbar pillow and no! to white and wimpy!

Start at the front door, and measure back to here. The FULL width, not the door width.

I agree with Jan, less is more. I might put a small table there with a vase of flowers or a plant and a bigger mirror and that's it. Longer rug would look great too.

Big enough? It’s a 40x60. Still deciding if I love the print! This front door needs a super slim mat.

Nice rug where did you get it at? Do you want it to go horizontal from the door? Is that what's putting you off otherwise it looks good

Actually found it at Tj maxx @happyleg! Here’s the other way. I think that looks better! Do you agree?

That gives you more room when you can go over to one of the sides if you need to which one do you like better I think I don't have a preference but this is nice

Maybe this one that you just posted if you put a little bench at the mirror otherwise maybe the other one cuz it looked nice too made the hallway look long

I think that rug position looks better. It is more what Jan was telling you, wider than the door. Maybe just a plant on a tall stool there

I would not put anything in that space beside the door. It’s nice for people to be able to come and go without feeling crowded. If you really think it needs a change, you could try a different mirror. But with the light switch it could only be minimally bigger.

Can you find skinny black frames?

Maybe, yes! I can still return! I felt like black looked a little harsh but you know I know nothing! I did just put a fam photo in there and the color palette looks so cute!

I agree black will look better, the gold frames just get lost.

    I love it!

I like that, now just put a little 2' x 3' step off size right in front of the door!

Lose those saggy white pillows on the bench. Leave it empty for now!

Remove all the tiny doo dad art and photos. You have enough family!Ruggables is on amazon

    but essentlally find two 2 x3 and 3 x 5?

Sounds good! I love the idea of a little table next to door but walkway will be too tight I think unless a 5" table exists! Heading out to look for a coordinating 2x3 rug & an 18" round mirror :)

What is the door to the LEFT of the front door in the hall passage? Is it not a closet?

Can you not use the back side of closet door for flip flops and shoes?

Does the storage bench have a lift top?

NO TO THE WEENY plant ON THE FLOOR: )

Weeny little things placed everywhere, clutter up the look of the house and add nothing to the good looks of that house, right?

It is a closet! could work on that next! bench does have storage. 5 ppl jan 😅the plant was from a moving neighbor who didnt want to take it- i will move it 😝

That‘s all I got for today!

That looks nice but I think you need matching rugs by the bench and door. I also think your current bench is fine.

I agree you're going to need a matching rug at the door if you have to get a smaller one get a smaller one for the door otherwise you could get the same size again and put it the other direction that goes over toward the mirror

Yes I will get a 2x3 for the door. I need to search a bit more :)

    More is NOT more

    See........

But.......you want a "something" - a little punctuation mark. One!! Just one square picture, deliberately off center, hang to left side of bench.....and stop. It is intentionally more geometric, more abstract, than the rugs on the floor.

    16" x 16 " SQUARE, or 24" x 24" ( measure first) I can't tell from the angle.

OR........ A LUMBAR pillow, ONE and skip the picture

    Etsy, 12 x 30"

If you NEED both, try it, and return one.

49 BUCKS EACH. It's contrast......a little tension, and deliberate. Call it jooooosh.!

In other words.......don't do the house of every friend you have, loaded with too many weeny suggestions of love, eat, home !, family ! .......blah blah blah amateur wall filler crapola word signs loading the shelves of every discount store., We KNOW you're a family!! ( you just finished a great photo wall! ) We know you love one another or should, and repeating it all over the house on every blessed wall will not make it so anyway lol!! It just feeds the profiteer across a vast ocean.

Amazon on the pictures, btw......: ) You find one you like better? Have at it. It is not "art", it's the little cherry on top of the whipped cream, and nothing more than that. You don't need a dessert buffet.

Hands clapping here....: ) Enjoy it!

    Here?

Tuck in an UMBRELLA stand, 24" tall, AMAZON

Get a couple TALL umbrellas, 34"

Logical, useful... a little "something", not in the way.....and wth...it DOES rain! Nice for a guest in a downpour! ( truthfully, these beat the hell out of the annoying fold up )

The pictures are okay to hang in the hallway above the bench like Jan said but I still don't think you need a pillow you're not going to be sitting there all the time

It's not about the comfort of "sitting there"......it's a bout a little jooooooosh if you want it: )

Nobody "sits" there, other than to don a shoe.
