We really need more information in order to provide advice/opinions. What type of house do you have? What is your design style? Is your house a completely open concept floor plan?

You need to post some photos so we can see how much trim will be painted black + the style of your house!

No way to answer with out pictures of your spaces and the reason for thinking black trim would work, It can be stunning in the right space but quite a statement so we need context . Post the pics here in a comment DO NOT start another post

I have all black trimwork and doors in my entire house, and I love having them, however, I have color on my walls. I do think the black looks better with color, but, it also looks better with cream, than it does a stark white wall.

depends on how nice your trim is and whether or not you really want to make it the feature of the room.

It is all about context and that comes form pics . I have done black trim and white walls in a MCM ranch where the trim was very simple but it looked fabulus with the clients furnture

It really can looking amazing..can you post photos of your interior..the size and type of trim can make a difference in the overall look.

It's possible that, in the right space, it could be cool, but for most houses it will look awful.

Here are some examples to help you decide. Be careful A touch of black is always necessary in a home, but too much can be brutal.

Ok - finally getting back to this. I took photos. It’s a grey day outside & the stretch of rooms from the front door to back looks a bit brighter in the morning but these are afternoon photos.

Wide front foyer, living room, dining room … all black trim, white paint?

More photos - black trim, white paint would go up the stairs & stop. Upstairs hallway & bedrooms would continue with white trim. Family room is one step down so the whole house feels very open, despite French doors on living room & dining room.

We ARE keeping the French doors on living room & dining room because the doors provide the necessary privacy for the counselling I provide.
