I like the sage and love the pooch. agree that the drapes are very dated and consider removing all the stuff from the plant shelves.

We need some unity and cohesion here! Interior design does not work in parts. It works with other factors in the room - walls, ceiling, floors, etc. Just like when you get dressed. You don't get dressed in peices. Hopefully you get dressed in a coordinated outfit. Yes, the black doors are too dark. Paint them in the same color as the walls. That way you don't get a fragmented look in the space. At the very least, start with this lighting - a table lamp or wall sconce at chest height in each corner. Since you have dark walls and flooring, the wall art needs to be light. Discover your interior design style. Put in top (HOUZZ) search box different styles - one at a time. For example - transitional, ethnic, eclectic, etc.

Paint the wall the color of the trim and wainscoting in an egg shell finish. Leave the door black.

Remove all the stuff on the ledges.

Fill the holes in the walls as some of the art/mirrors will be moved or removed permanently.

Drapes and valance gone.

Line the sofas up. Remove the lighting and the end table stick out into another space.

Replace the fan with a lovely ceiling light (not a chandelier)

New chandelier for over dining table. That is very important.

Could you take a daylight picture? I like the sage but I like green, so there's that. I do think perhaps the doors should be the trim color-are these the only black doors?

Sage is great, I believe the issue is with the heavy drapery, dated fixtures and furnishing. Post a picture with natural daylight for better feedback.

I agree with the comments above. Not sure what I voted for so I just clicked on the first box (because I could see what was in the pic). Agree with removing items on ledge and short wall. I really like the green but definitely vote for better lighting.
