UV/heat protection for windows

We recently acquired a condominium in south Florida. It is a corner unit and the corner windows (our master bedroom) face south and west. The heat from the sun warms the room very very quickly.
What have you found to be the best solution without replacing the windows or making the room feel too dark? Thank you.

Window Film or Solar Shades. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

We used outside mounted solar screens on large west facing picture windows in our first house and the difference was amazing. Inside screens work too but not as well. Since you want to see through darker shades are much easier to see out of than light colored ones.

I would consider a window film such as one from 3m or Llumar. There are also DIY products such as those from Gila. I have a large skylight and summertime was miserable until I had window film installed which dramatically lowered the daytime temperature in the house.

I don't have any window coverings except in the master bedroom where I have Bali blackout cellular shades.
