LW Pristine Vs Mirage Exclusive Engineered Hardwood

Hello debating between Lw pristine and Mirage exclusive engineered wood. I’m in South Florida. The colors are very similar . Mirage is a decent amount more price wise but I’ve heard the quality is better . I have a children a toddler and dogs . I would prefer for my investment to last with a quality product.

No question then in my mind. Mirage all day as the quality IS BETTER.

LW Pristine differs in the species of oak used. They use European Oak with a 3mm wear layer in Pristine. This species has less open grain than the North American White Oak used by Mirage. It has a wavier grain pattern with more rustic knots in some grades. Paradise Island is a higher grade LW product. 10.25" wide with a 4mm wear layer. LW link.

When you decide. It's recommended to not rely on a sample. Order a box to lay out in your space to see the tone variation. Other sources for European Oak are DuChateau, Monarch Plank and Hakwood.

Mirage is developing a premium 10" wide limited distribution European Oak engineered product to be under the Trubalance Lite 2 line. They have products labeled just Oak on their website. Those use red oak treated to look like white oak.

wow very detailed reply ! are you saying that mirage is superior as well being a product of solely north america and open grain ? I wish I had time to see the mirage 10” planks but I need my flooring done in about a month. Paradise Island is a premium then lw select ? I assumed that the select was higher end although the planks not as wide

What are the specs? Wear layer? Base layers? Hard-wax oil vs polyurethane? Those are the things you need to compare.

Also in FL and I considered Mirage back in 2021, but they didn't have a color I loved. What I don't like about your Mirage sample is the white "streaks". I think they call it heart wood? That could be a big part of the look and to me, would look too stripey.

I ended up using DuChateau, Riverstone Collection, color Sava. It is a hard-wax oil finish and I'm really happy with it after 3 years. Kids are out of the house, but I have 3 dogs, 2 of which are large and active. Mine has some texture/character which can hide a lot of the wear of a busy household.

My aesthetics prefer the less open grain and wide 10" plank using European Oak. DuChateau, Monarch Plank and Hakwood are premium suppliers. Hakwood Signature Link Link.. is made in Denmark while the other two use flooring from SE Asia. Even so, the quality is good. Prime and Select give a specific look. European Oak has small knots and wavy grain tones visible with wider planks. You have to decide what will fit the design of your space.

Monarch Link has prime grade EU Oak in various widths unfinished. Ciranova Ecofix Plus is a quality finish.
