IMO you can do better and for sure lighting needs to light the surface you are trying to light and in a kitchen the island needs good lighting since it usually is a work surface . The DR on is IMO done to death and honestly not even that attractive. The pendants are not a good way to light the island but I like them but for me the DR fixture needs to be something fabulous always so I would do something like this and then maybe those pendants will be okay with lots of LED pot lights for good over all lighting

Those lights are fine as decorative lighting but have they drawn an rcp showing the recessed lights? Are there no upper cabinets? (I only ask because that eliminates undercabinet lights) I hope that island isn’t as deep as it looks

Your dining area might be a bit small, specially with a door and major walkway to the outside right there.

I don't think the furniture shown in your great room is to scale. It isn't going to live as big as it feels/looks on paper!

We’re at drywall stage. Our dining table is around 7 feet long with chairs, so there should be enough clearance. And the island will be 5 feet by approximately 7.2 feet. I do like the light fixture set out above, but since we have floor to ceiling windows and the dining room can be seen from the entry, we’re looking for something with cleaner lines so as not to take away too much from the sight lines.

I agree with chispa - my living room is larger than the dimensions shown for yours - and there is no way that I could put three sofas in my room! Also, it does seem a bit awkward in the dining area to have a door to outside that close to the table/end chair. It really seems as though the furniture has been drawn out of scale.

Also, how is the dining table 7 feet long and the island only 2" longer? The scale is really off. . .

I wouldn’t fixate on the scale too much, as we’ve measured it all out and it works. I’m just wondering about the lighting selections given the proximity of the island to the dining room. We also have lots of pot lights throughout, so these are really meant to be more decorative than functional.

I would rethink the island lights. Consider ones that would be complimentary to the table light, not too matchy. They are both lantern style, but the lines are so very different.

I'm late to the party, but I agree with Patricia that the DR light should be fabulous. The fact that it can be seen all the way from the entry would make me want a beautiful statement light.
