help with this couch

Helping with a room makeover in Florida. Green/peach striped couch. Super comfortable and a pull out. Some say it’s ugly , some say it can be styled with the right rug/pictures and paint color. Help! Any ideas?

Needs a rug and some pillows.

Yes but what kind of rug? What kind of pattern? Or a solid? What color of paint?

Post pics of all 4 walls.

Either a solid natural fiber rug for a casual look or an oriental rug for a more formal look

If you’re really wanting to keep it and also want a more interesting room, I think the answers lies in the amount of contrast, and color that is related to sofa color but slightly deeper.

I agree need the whole room plus what other furniture, keeping or up for replacement.

It appears tgd current wall color is cool, maybe grayish. But hard to tell on monitors.

Whereas sofa is warm- toned, but in addition, reads as “ soft” medium tone witlowisg contrast in the stripes. Not “ crisp”, in other words. I think your floors are pretty, but the sofa blends into them because of similar depth of color.

So, without being specific ( which I know you need, sorry), I think wall color behind sofa which “ sets off the sofa is an option. A deeper peach or green( but not TOO dark), is an option. I’m not much for focal walls, but depending on room, it could be an option, if it’s not good for the whole room color. Or, the right ivory/ warm white might work.
A rug could be though of in same way—to provide a type of contrast that is more than the floor currently provides.

I do use pillows to add color or reference other colors in the room, so that’s an option, but there is a tendency to use too many pillows in order to mitigate a sofa color, while the sofa itself is in MOST relationship to the wall behind and the floor below, so you’d get more bang for your buck by thinking about background colors.

Here are some screenshots of a video we took of the room. Please ignore the other furniture- it’s being used as a staging area currently.

I’m thinking simple green art work- like palm leaves and maybe a clock.

    Slipcover or reupholster.

The white tv cabinet is nice and airy. I'd think you'd want to continue with that and the sofa does not do it.

Honestly I like it better than the grey or brown tweedy sofa most of the people who are telling you the sofa is ugly have in their houses.

There’s the rub. Most sofas shown in “ I got new furniture “ don’t look that great or of great quality. Which I get, because lot of folks order online,it’s getting harder to find a conveniently located showroom, and the cost of “ good” upholstered furniture throws people for a loop.

If keeping the sofa though, it’d be good if some the support act can be done DIY, like painting, or shop for a good rug price. Or Dr use if saving up for a new one and just don’t invest a lot in surrounding decor. I think you’d need to have a “ vision” and bit of a master plan so you’re not just grabbing this and that and end up with a big mishmash.

Celery, that looks pretty good! Really helps the sofa look more “ neutral” & other elements stand out.

I would flood the room with lots of white kinda shabby chic florida!..white walls white textured rug..soft peach and white fluffy pillows..bright white and oeach wall art..looks like you have a white tv cabinet already…add large white lamps.

Thank you all! You’ve given me plenty to consider! I thought this couch was a lost cause- it’s nice to see there are some possibilities. Thank you, thank you!
