Yes the obviously fake stone does not suit the main house at all. Pull it off and put 5” exposure smooth hardiboard everywhere.

White material are you thinking for the siding. I would use western red cedar shingles.

I think your house was originally a foursquare and then at some point they put the entryway on the front and the stone at the same time. As the other commenters said, the stone really should come down during this project. Ask yourself if the interior of the entryway works. I don't think it's very attractive, so there should be a benefit inside to compensate. Here is a beautiful example of a foursquare. I would think all siding manufacturers will have a nice medium blue you could use.

Extending a porch across the front incorporating the current wall structure but with a shed roof that spans the front would transform it. And give you a covered entry.

Help us help you. Do you have the budget for wood or composite or are you needing to go vinyl?

I would restore the front porch and get rid of the fake stone. You could do board and batten or clapboards. Remove the yews or trim them to a more natural shape.

Like Hallett, for siding, I recommend smooth Hardiboard. We have had it on our house for 20 years. No painting, holds up really, really well. No problems at all. Lots of color choices, too.

You have a charming 4-square home that someone has really messed up. You can google for images of 4-square homes that might give you some great ideas for your own home.

1. Remove the fake stone.

2. Remove the ludicrous hedge.

3. Rip off that patched-on addition on the front of your house and build a real porch.

Why do you want to keep the fake stone? Cost? Aesthetics? That addition is currently a pimple on the house in a bad material and an off center poorly sized picture window. It’s very obviously tacked on. There are a million ways to fix the front but none of them include leaving the stone unless you have to for budget reasons. If the stone has to stay then it just stays and you really don’t need advice- you just leave it.

The horrid fake stone is not suited to the home. It needs to be the first thing to go.
