Floorplan tradeoffs in kitchen and office area for wine storage

I am working on a remodel, and attached you will find the current planned floorplan. Focus on the area in the kitchen and Office area. There is some allocation for wine storage. The space is approximatley 7' x 4.5'.

Alternative 1: Enter through Kitchen.

Alternative 2: Enter through Office.

The ultimate ask is - what is the preferred configuration and why.

The larger appliance is the Refrigerator and the smaller is an oven and microwave.

I have put the current floor plan down for reference on what is happening overall, but the wine entry is my main question.

Without imparting bias, Tradeoffs I see:

1) Entry through kitchen enables natural entry point, but reduces counter space and spreads appliances more. 2) Future use - through kitchen could yield walk in pantry if ppl don't want wine storage. Through office, it could be used as a closet.

3) Through kitchen makes it more noticeable, through Office it's more hidden.

Or....complete different would be to put the wine area where Pantry is and make the Wine area a Walk in Pantry.

Happy to hear other feedback as well.

plan 2 because you want a continuous run on the kitchen side which that plan provides. Back up or "primary wine storage" thru office door and straight on .....you can probably have small area of wine storage on pantry wall section in kitchen...near dining room [stair well wall] ......thats what we did when wine was consumed and more entertaining.....we used basement cool area for storage and had a small wine bottle stand closer to point of use. Must point out the issue of "next to furnace room" for wine in general......DARK-yes, but COOL ??? Have you thought of switching powder room with wine room.......when entering office place a wall on left w pocket door for office privacy then straight through to a powder room. And have your wine storage in isolated space where powder room is...straight through from kitchen. I'd be nervous about the furnace room If I invested in wine...which I dont.

use your sq footage at powder room location

Neither for me . IMO wine nice to have near entertaining space like the DR #1 breaks up the kitchen and # 2 is just odd to go into the office for wine . The only befit to #2 is the fact that is will need to be a closet for resale if that space is to be listed as a bedroom. I much prefer wine coolers that re like fridges not under counter but actultall narrow units unless you are going to temp control that new wine space I would do neither but of the 2 I would do the winecoolers and true pullout pantries where you show the pantry . That way you have 2 zones for wine at the right temp for both and in what I think is the perfect spot

Thanks herbflavor. Good feedback. I will have to think about the furnace bit. For what it's worth, my plan was to add a cooling unit for temperature control in that room.

Patricia - thanks for the comment. I will probably have a small wine fridge in the kitchen area. But, what I am envisioning is storage for a few hundred bottles (300-450)....that's a lot of wine fridges haha.
