What is the flooring in the kitchen?

I think you need to stay in the warm tones for a finish but you can consider different actual woods.

They look kind of green in the photo but are a cream and beige porcelain tile. We are not changing it out.

I have honey oak cabinets I’m getting rid of. I like rift and quartersawn oak but they are expensive and not environmentally friendly so I doubt I’d get those. Maple is too blah for me.

I have golden oak trim and 6 panel doors doors throughout my house. When I remodeled my kitchen 12 years ago, I used natural cherry/clear coat (no stain) cabinets.

Cherry does darken a bit over time. The pictures below were taken recently so that is as dark as they will be.

I agree with Beverly that a warm wood tone is needed with the golden oak that you have. If you would go with cherry I recommend that you use select cherry to get a more uniform look with minimal sap wood.

European Oak doesn't have the open grain of white or red oak.

But. You only have pictures of doors and trim.

Show the entire kitchen ? All angles? Do you love the layout, its super convenient? Nothing against cherry, other than it HAS done a major fade away in popularity, and yes wood is back in a big way, but not cherry in cabinetry , not flooring either.
