Exterior Front Door Revamp - Help Needed

Time to tackle my front door. Trim will be sanded and painted. The doors themselves are big, solid wooden doors, there looks to be stains on the front but those spots are still extremely solid.

The design - with the carved wood - is obviusly not modern. My initial thought was to simply replace them, though I was pretty shocked to find that most doors at this size are $4-6k new for the just the door, not including install. Literally every opinion I have received thus far has said to just sand + stain/paint the doors black, update the handle and modernize the lock, and call it a day.

Thoughts? Am planning to start, if not fully complete, this next weekend.

It looks like MCM brick so is that the style of the house ? Those doors are for sure not that style soa bit of info as to the style of th house and your style.Sorry but it will take more than paint to make those modern for sure.

IMO sidelights provide you with visual access to a visitor without opening the door and are essential.

The doors are gorgeous, the color is odd and blotchy. Paint them black or forest green or some other color. Bright orange, even. Then, appreciate their unique beauty.

If you use black, it is just going to look like you have a rectangular black hole in that area.

How about a deep red. Use Fine Paint of Europe for a beautiful glossy finish.

I agree to not paint them black. I suggest some bright color that you are also using inside.

Another vote AGAINST black. A pretty navy or royal blue would complement your brick.
