Help me with this awkward space behind my couch.

I have a weird space in my living room. I’ve rearranged it so many many times but for now this is the best I can do. I want to leave the space behind the couch because it’s convenient to have a place to walk behind it and also if I put the couch against the wall, it’s too far from the other (tv) wall. So I’ve decided to leave it like this but the wall looks so bare. I wanted to buy some shelves beneath the window for plants but I realize shelves wouldn’t work because it would be clunky for people trying to walk through the narrow space. What type of decorative items choice I add? Three framed pictures perhaps? One large Barlow horizontal picture? A large tapestry? Any ideas welcome!

Of course the easiest solution is to push the seating back towards the wall. Why did you position the seating floating in the space??

Push it back to the wall. That amount of space has no purpose at all and no reason to walk back there!

I'm sure you will still be able to see the tv.

^^Agree it needs to be pushed back to the wall. That space is too small and looks odd. It doesn’t seem inconvenient for your pathway to be between the seating area and TV wall.

Just wondering about a narrow sofa table…? See what Beverly and Jan say.

This is the space right now but I just bought two matching white shelves with glass doors to go on either side of the tv stand, so it’ll look more cohesive.

Kinda made a barrier to hide the office/craft space behind the sofa….If you need the space to walk through to your office, then add drapes to your windows. That will give you a visual that looks like you filled the space, but can still walk behind the sofa.

I'm trying to figure out the main purpose of the space?It's a family room near a kitchen? Seems very devoted to children?

What's around it? What other rooms? Is it the main floor? The basement?

A drawing with dimensions of the whole room and where openings lead would help. Add it as a jpeg in comments below.

You just keep adding more and more random items into this space. There is nothing cohesive about this space.

You might have been better off just buying more of the IKEA Expedit with baskets to store items. If you have cabinets with glass doors then the items behind the glass doors have to look good and there's no time for that with kids.
