All three of these are good options. Thanks! They are so reasonably priced I might purchase all three and give the plumbers options of what is easiest to install. What I don't use I can donate to Habitat or hold on to in case the one I use breaks.

A stupid way of spending, but it is better than having these incommunicative plumbers show up and then disappear to get parts because the install isn't right and then they don't finish the job in the time frame I need.

I've been buying/using Speakman showerheads for the last 15 years and the quality and durability have always been great from that brand. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

I love speakman shower heads too @chispa. I have one that is heavy as hell and solid brass, works really well. And another that is a light piece of plastic and feels like it should be junk but is equally fantastic.

Both Jan and Patricia have recommended Speakman shower heads many times in threads on here - that's why I started researching them. What confuses me is how a solid brass Speakman Signature Icon Anystream can be around $50 OR $250.

Typically polished chrome is the least expensive finish - but sometimes it's the most. There does seem to be a bit of a pattern related the how many GPMs - my 2.5 gpm was less than the same model in either a 2.0 gpm or 1.75 gpm.

Maybe that's just on Amazon - their pricing doesn't make sense from one day to the next! I wouldn't have purchased it from Amazon, but I was in a hurry.

I couldn't understand the price differences either when I was looking at Speakman shower heads about two years ago. I called Speakman to inquire. The woman I spoke with as so nice and I don't even remember what the answer was because the offered to send me a free $40 plastic shower head so I could try it out. I did. It was great.

Update - Not knowing whether we needed a threaded or slip in faucet, I purchased one of each and let the plumber decide which to use. The Speakman was threaded, super heavy, excellent quality. The American Standard was also decent quality, not as heavy, but the install that the plumbers preferred.

You do however need to get one compatible with the stuff in the wall so make sure about that before any shopping.
