Kohler Continuous Clean Toilets - worth it or gimmic?

Settling on toilets for our new build and going with Kohler.

They have a “Continuous Clean” option which (to me) seems like a fancy way to hold and slow-release the old-fashioned tablets that used to just be dropped into the tank. There aren’t special tablets, just a “contraption” in the tank.

The benefit is described as lasting 5x longer than just dropping the tablet in the tank, and that it prevents the breakdown of parts (?) since it’s designed for the tablets.

Is this a legit helpful benefit and good to have, or just a gimmicky upsell? (It does increase the cost.) We don’t use tabs today but I’d also be a fan of something that legitimately helps keep things clean for longer - we will have some less-used guest bedrooms on our 2nd floor.

Anyone have any practical experience?

It takes a few minutes to clean a toilet the old fashioned way. Keep it simple.

Get a Toto. They have a finish on the inside of the bowl called "sani-flush". It makes the bowl so slick that nothing sticks therefore making the need for cleaning quite minimal. It is not a gimmick. It really works.

I freaking hate cleaning the toilet. The Toto's in my house can go for way, way, way longer between cleanings. I've started replacing all of my toilets with Toto for this reason, and because they are great toilets that never need repair. Just had a new one installed yesterday.

I also love their soft close lids and think it is just a comfortable throne in general.

The Kohlers we are looking at have that same slick surface and quite close. This particular feature is about those cleaning tabs that in the old days were thrown into the tank.

If you have the good surface, you don’t need the tabs.

+1 to a Toto > a Kohler for all the reasons given by @Kendrah. I notice the difference between the two brands in my house and have been opting to replace the Kohlers with Totos when possible.
