About to start planting what to put?

last year

Every year I think I over crowd my garden. Fertilizer is in the beds and I have garlic growing. Last year had no success with zucchini. What I usually put is 2 cucumbers up front zucchini in back tomatoes in middle lettuce around perimeters of each bed. String beans on the trellis. Basil parsley up front. Next year I want to start from seed lettuce tomatoes and try broccoli rabe. My brother has a bunch started from seed. I just didn't know how many plants without overcrowding. Or a new veggie to try planting that has good success. Any tips suggestions on how to have high yield low overcrowding. I was thinking maybe try a few corn stalks. I fenced it in good last year so no squirrel or chipmunk issue.
