Most of my cabinets are ikea which have a Formica type surface that is easier to clean than any shelf liner would be. I do have the padded shelf liner in my drawers to stop rattling. I have some cabinets that someone painted the interior with latex paint so those have to have a liner or things stick.

I used cork in my kitchen drawers, mostly to keep things from sliding about.

I too have Ikea cabinets but almost all drawers and I use the old Ikea liner to keep stuff from sliding in the drawers but I agree easy to clean if you do not use it . It is I guess an old fashioned idea I think my Mom used it to make her smile ours was really colorful.

Drawers yes, under the sink yes, even though they are either countertop grade formica or conversion lacquer.

Two narrow drawers in bedroom built ins have a wood insert lined with velvet flock.

I always do since my drawers and shelves are wood. Plastic liners protect it. But it's a matter of personal preference.

I have heavy-duty ribbed liner in my cabinets and drawers. I like that should something damp be placed there air can circulate. Easily removed to wipe clean.

All this to say, yes I like IKEA ;) I do lots of work on historic buildings downtown so sometimes those really call for custom to overcome weird dimensions, but I just designed a beautiful laundry in the Vedhamn collection. This client also wants white Corian, I love her! (the backsplash tile is $100 sq ft with birds so needs a neutral counter)

I‘ve used the type below for my last three houses. It has no glue or adhesive backing, so very easy to work with and to remove when necessary (moving, for instance), as well as easy to clean under. And I like that nothing slides on it.

@Hallett&co, @patricia colwell consulting - I too have favorable IKEA cabinet experience. When we finished our former basement, the stairway prohibited assembled cabinetry. My DH assembled, modified and installed theirs and they still looked really great after 20 years. And the optional features!

I am remodeling 2 bathrooms and have been investigating liners too. It looks like most use the liners on the roll that you cut to your dimensions. Looks like I need to plan an IKEA trip.

We did to keep things from sliding around. We did not line the upper cabinet shelves just the base drawers. We started out with the liners like Jilly shows but after a while the little nubbies started coming off. We now use the Gorrilla Grip DripGuard drawer liner. We like it. No nubbies, non-adhesive and keeps things from sliding. It comes in different colors and patterns.

It really depends on the interior cabinet material.

I use a liner in all of my kitchen and bathroom cabinets for all the reasons stated above. I do not use a liner in the linen closets.

I’ve always used a liner in kitchen cabinets and drawers, except in those where I might need to slide the item a little to reach it, like in the top shelf with oversized or not often used items.
