I like all 12 x24 porcelain tile for both bathroom floors and shower walls and the same tile only smaller fot the shower floor all matching grout . I dislike niches in showers and for sure never in a accent , shampoo bottles are not decor and those niches get gross and are almpst always the source of a leak if it happens. A nice caddy easy to clean IMO just abtter choice. The reason I keep all the same tile and simple is it allows you to change things easily like wall color, accessories towels , art all done quickly and cheaply for a new look . I like the white marble look but is that somthing you have always loved ? I use plain tile it allows you anice counter material that can be a bit of a star same as the vanity color

If you are going to mix a marble-look porcelain on the shower with another tile on the bathroom floor, I would not use a stone-look tile. Find something less patterned, like a linen-look tile.

As far as the marble-look tile, do you really like gray? I prefer a marble look tile that has a mix of gray and gold/brown veins, one that looks more like Calacatta Gold Marble. It gives a warmer look and more options to match with warmer or cooler colors.

This is the combination I used in one of my guest bathrooms. Calacatta gold marble-look on shower walls, linen-look on bathroom floor with matching mosaic on shower floor. Paint board with vanity color and sample of quartz counter.

I used 12x24 on the bathroom floor and 24x24 on the shower walls.

I would keep it on the light side, for sure, if your room is small.

Simple, yes, but not boring. Choose something with some interest, there are many options in the same price range.

Find the floor tile you love and REPEAT it on the shower walls. I would skip the niche, but if you must have it? Please do not give it a highlight tile.

Simple is many things.......is there a law against a color? Something other than a porcelain marble mimic, now existing in virtually every spec build in the USA?

What/where is the bath? In a hall, or it is a primary, EN suite?

Are any of the above your actual layout? Is it a gut remodel or a new build?

Also,.... know this.

Large format tiles in porcelain, especially faux marble, come largely out of Italy. Oddly, they RARELY have a small companion mosaic for the shower floor. Why? No clue.......: (

With a white vanity and polished chrome plumbing. Sparkles like a diamond. WISH I had a picture, never got one, and they moved : (

mar77 - Jan is correct - faux marble tile has been the #1 choice of builders + many homeowners for the past few years. Personally, I don't like faux marble tile - I used real marble because I couldn't find anything that looked remotely nice.

However, if I had seen photos of chispa's bathroom, I most likely would have selected the same tile that she used - it's the only faux marble tile that I've seen either in person or in a photo that looked like it could be real marble. I love my real marble shower + my tub surround - however, I do baby it a bit (probably more than I need to) + I worry any time I have someone come clean the house that he/she will fail to use the products I have specifically for real stone.

Plus, chispa's tile works with cool or warm tones due to its mix of gray/gold/brown veining. Her bathroom is GORGEOUS! Plus, I love real Calacatta Gold marble - I am looking for the right slab for my kitchen island right now.

Maybe chispa will post a few photos so you can see the difference between the photo of faux marble tile that you've posted and what her faux marble tile looks like? It is like comparing night and day!

My calacatta gold marble-look tile when it was being installed in the guest bathroom. Harder to photograph now that the shower glass is in place. These are 24x24. I used the 30x30 size in the master shower, which is larger. The matching mosaic was used on the ceiling with matching bullnose tile going all the way around. I like tiling the ceiling in a shower too.

I do like the gray marble look. But, gray and gold is more versatile and I like a warmer look too.

What is the name/brand of your linen floor tile and wall Calcutta Gold tile?

@Lyn Nielson Thanks! It's so hard finding the right combo. My bathroom floor is large and the shower is tiny and in an alcove. So, I need the bathroom floor tile to be something I like and the shower tile can be subtle as it's hidden.

Was thinking that the niche could add some sparkle. Maybe even mother of pearl tile in white.

But, a potential leak in that area is something to think about I guess.

I like the look of marble and think it's timeless. I would do real marble, but read it's very difficult to maintain and needs regular sealing. So looking at faux marble.

I wish you had a pic too. Did you mean you did the hex in the pic everywhere, white vanity and polished chrome fixtures?

@dani_m08 Thanks! y, faux marble seems to be the tile used today. I like the look though. I would use real marble, but I read it needs regular sealing and I don't want something that is high maintenance.

The shower I need the tile for is small so I wanted something subtle and not large lines all over - most of the tiles seem to be very busy.

If you have pictures of a faux marble tile with subtle veining then please post the pictures. Or any other white background tile. Will look forwards to chipsa's tile pics.

My shower is small - 34 by 33 maybe. That's why I was looking for subtle veining. Was thinking larger or more veins would be too busy in the small shower?

I found this tile - gray and gold. Not sure if it looks like marble or too off. The veins are not too prominent. What do you think? Then the bathroom floor can be a linen like tile. The bathroom floor is much larger and the shower is small and in an alcove

This is marble everything, including pure white Thassos on floor, and Calacatta on shower walls and same in mosaic on shower floor.

The most important is layout.......show YOUR bath, and a drawing with dimensions is yet better.

My builder's preferred tile shop didn't have the Marvel tile either, but he was able to source it from a bigger tile distributor somewhere else, that he did business with. Tile is no different from other businesses/products that have larger regional distributors and sales people. You can't stock everything, but you can definitely order something if a customer asks for it.

This is how you can end up with something you don't love ...

Most people have difficulty picking tile. It's not easy to imagine how a litte sample tile will look in a larger area).Doing the same look for all 3 areas is very boring and can look like a mausoleum. I'd recommend ; pick your favorite look for the shower walls with a matching (at least visually small shaped tiles for the shower floor.) You should use a smaller hexagonal or penny rounds for te shower floor.What colors are you going to have in the adjoining bedroom?(To give the rooms that calming look, the 2 rooms should blend. You should use a smaller tile, little hexagoal or penny rounds. You will want more grout lines in the floor in the shower to help avoid slips (more grout lines give you better traction). As for the bahroom floor, go with a coordinating tile. You can add a bit of color here to break things up and add some interest.

I’m not a designer but I designed my master shower. I combined several tiles but used real marble- - I found a good option that was budget friendly.
I wanted the back wall to be a focal point so I chose large tiles for field and a simple pattern of multiple tile types for the wall and the shower floor was simple but blended with shower walls so it didn’t detract from wall tile.

What sealer do you use for marble and how often do you seal?

Also, did you use epoxy grout?

I’m not sure what sealer it was it was purchased from the tile shop
