I suppose that is what I will do. The deck plate will have to be 8" then. It might look a bit odd, but I think the functionality should be fine, maybe even better since even before swiveling the faucet it will offset from any dishpan or watering can I want to put in the sink. It’s a utility room and it will not be seen by visitors, and tbh I think DH and I would be fine with it.

I’d rather have the soap dispenser than the big beauty plate woefully off center. I think the faucet off center will look fine.

You may find rust around one or both holes when you take the current faucet off. It is much quicker to have on hand both a deck plate for coverup if needed and the soap dispenser instead of having to return one and then reorder the other. You can also get a simple faucet hole cover in different finishes that covers up the extra hole.

Deck plates are such a pet peeve of mine. I'd use the one hole off center and just get one of those metal disc that covers the other hole.

Would it bother you no end if the faucet spout is not centered on the sink?

I am currently awaiting a plumber to do an install at our second home. There is a fully remodeled kitchen with white porcelain double handles, a faucet, a sprayer, and a disposal button. The new one will be a single lever faucet with pull down sprayer. The disposal button will stay, and the other holes will have the matching metal covers.

Well, according to my plumber who came today to take care of a few things, a single hole faucet requires a 2” hole. The existing holes are just 1”. So, doing a search for new parameters. I’ll have to see if one can replace existing handles with the actual desired handles, and how.
