Jet Mist or Negresco

Hello,

I am choosing a new bathroom vanity top from remnant pieces. I had picked a piece of Jet Mist (pic attached) but am going back to also look at a piece of Negresco that I wasn't able to see the whole thing before . From what I was able to see before it didn't look like it had much white veining so I thought it was a little too boring but now that I'm looking at other people's pics of it I'm thinking maybe I wrote it off too soon and it may go better with the rest of the room since it's more black and the jet mist is a grey. I want something that looks like soapstone but isn't and I want to get one of these ASAP since this bathroom project has been dragging on. I've attached a couple pics of the bathroom. Hardware, sinks, lighting and mirror will all be replaced and haven't finalized paint yet but we have a board and batten trim around the room.

You have a bathroom with clean lines and you're keeping that raised panel door oak vanity????

Your money would be better spent getting two IKEA wall hung vanities with matching sink/tops.

Beverly, yes the cabinets are solid, in good shape and actually grew on me after the old floor and shower was gone. The floor tile is a vintage stle so I would't have though to put a modern IKEA vanity even though we went modern with the shower fixtures. Also, I had no idea how much it was actually going to cost to replace the counter with stone! This has been a bit by bit project where we're just winging it.

The mats have to you need ones that are just white none of that pattern . I only see the one slab but I do agree an Ikea cabinet wall hung with the sink integrated would be my choce too But do the floors extend under the that vanity .The bonus is the Ikea one has soo much better storage too

Patricia, no the floors don't extend under and we just got the floors tiled so unfortunately removing the vanity isn't an option. We do have tall cabinet on either side of the main part of the vanity so a good amount of storage but I do understand what you mean about the IKEA storage. We had one of those IKEA vanities in another house and the drawers were great.

Negresco honed would be pretty.

Based on the pic of your Jet and images I have seen online of negresco honed, I'd prefer negresco honed. More of a bold contrast to your nice wood vanity, just a richer look. Your jet mist is a bit busier than I would care for.

Love the vintage floor style and that you are reusing a perfectly good vanity.

I've seen some beautiful negresco honed granite - I think it will look great with your existing vanity.

Also, your existing oak vanity helps warm up the rest of the space. Plus, it appears to be in really good shape.

While an IKEA vanity does have great storage space with its two drawers (I recently renovated one of my guest bathrooms and changed to an all drawer vanity that has two large operable drawers - the third top drawer is fixed in order to house the sink), you have quite a bit of storage with the two tall storage cabinets that flank each side of the vanity.

Updating the hardware for the vanity + the faucets/mirrors/lighting will really change the look of the vanity wall.

Thank you Kendrah and dani! The vanity has really grown on me and I didn’t want to get rid if a perfectly good solid wood piece. And I agree it warms up the room!

Unfortunately the jet mist piece had some weird oil spots i didn’t see before and my husband hated the Negresco so we’re back on the hunt.
