I think it kind of depends. Do you plan leaving it out there year round? In a position where it's in the sun more? Watching TV during the day? Then yes, you might want to get an outdoor TV. Want to catch some TV in the evening during the summer and bring the TV in otherwise? You might be able to do an indoor TV. Some folks have it set up so they have a screen, and they use a mini projector that is as portable as their phone. So they don't need to leave any equipment out.

Yes in screened in porch in shade it won't be in sun. I guess I can move it in and out of that's cheaper

We have two indoor tv's outside. One is under the covered patio tucked into a corner. We keep it covered with a canvas like cover. It's done just fine for several years.

The other tv is a bit nicer and we built a case it sits back in so rain doesn't get on it. We close it up when not in use but it is out in the elements inside the case. So far, it's done just fine also.

Outdoor specific tv's are pretty expensive and we've never used one.

What did you use as enclosure I see they sell enclosure.

Just a wooden enclosure with two doors. My DH built it.

I have one in my house, and just use a regular TV. The outdoor ones cost considerably more.. I installed this in September 2021 and its been just fine (65" Sony). I can replace this unit with new four times for the price of an outdoor unit. Do the math and you will come out ahead (and get newer, updated models) with standard units. No rain gets on mine, but it's exposed to winter cold, summer heat and spring pollen.
