Why not highlight…..it will create a more interesting, inviting area; see difference below with proportionate lighting. I don’t think clear glass is a great choice as it’s hard to keep clean and you could do better.

In addition to style, it’s important to consider size/balance and given your high ceilings, suggest a light that is adaptable height wise.

Look for a style that will lend itself to both your kitchen and stools, while keeping in mind your new light. This one is on Wayfair Canada (if you like it’s probably available in the US). Something like this would blend in well, while creating warmth and interest.

Maureen, thank you for the feedback and suggestions. The island is 7’6””. i know a raised counter isn”t ideal, but that’s not changing. We are being painted right now - definitely freshening the space.

The raised counter is fine. Once you add great pendants the eye will go there.

Not sure of the true color of those pendants. They are described as ”concrete” which to me might lean gray. The new paint color is BM Muslin and looks pretty much like the kitchen backsplash. What about the same style in black?

Thanks, lisedv. That is so helpful. I’ve been wanting to change out the appliances to stainless steel - should look even better.

Black would work with your appliances, the metal in your light and stand out more, while a lighter style will complement your stools/light’s shade. Size and an adaptable length would be my first decision though.

A cone style pendant over peninsula..any type glass clear or seeded shows dust all the time…I would go with white metal…black accent trim

Ordered these today, but backordered until Sept. 1. 14” wide.

With your high ceilings I think you need something a bit longer in style..the one you ordered is the same size as what you have now?

No, the one we had was about 8” across, this one is 14”. as far as height is concerned, the new one is not as tall as the one I really wanted, but it’s $200 cheaper (per fixture.) I can live with it not being perfect. Also, the ones we had were hung too high, which made them really ”lost in space.”
