roofing shingles color help!

We are getting a new roof soon. We have dark blue shutters and a very light grey trim on the exterior. What is a good color to go with our house. I tried using ai to get an idea but it wasn’t helpful.

I think cool colors need to go together and warm colors need to go together - warm colors and cool colors don't go together well. Here are cool colors: bright white, black, navy, royal blue, purple, pine green, forest green, taupe, gray, silver. Warm colors: Beige, off-white, cream, peach, olive green, golden yellow, gold.

You have brown now, that goes well with your house, although, if you choose brown, go for a brown thats a lot darker than what you have.. I also think charcoal might go good on your house. I like shutters on your house, but, since you dont have room for them on the left side, I think, just having them on the right doesnt look quite right, and I would remove all the trim, and then paint the trim the same shade as the roofing you use, if its brown or charcoal. A darker brown is better than charcoal.

I was thinking charcoal as well or a dark brown.

There are other roof colors you can try from CERTAINTEED ROOFING.

Yes Charcoal but not too dark against the light brick. Beverly posted Georgetown Gray, has a nice touch of brown in it if you zoom in on the sample.

Suggest you go to the GAF website, create an account and then you can use the visualizer. Many roofers are certified with a particular roof shingle brand (Certainteed, GAF, Owens, etc) and prefer to use only that brand.

If budget allows, plan to update the porch posts to wood and possibly paint the shutters and/or window trim. All depends on the selected roof color. A reputable roofer should have sample boards you can see against your home to aid in the selection.

These below from GAF are (in order) - Barkwood, Shakewood, Weathered Timber and Slate

With the grey trim and brick’s shade I’d choose mid-range grey shingles. Roof won’t feel as top heavy and a textured look will add more character.

Adding shutters back on or not, consider adding a small garden and your home will have more curve appeal and feel better balanced overall.

I'm not sure the shutters should remain on the ranch house. Maybe the windows need to be trimmed and painted instead.

^Agree with window trim and no shutters. Also agree with Maureen regarding a gray roof…light to medium.

I wish I could envision what it would look like no shudders. I tried chat gpt and it took out the whole window too when I told it just remove the blue shudders.

Shutters remove pretty easily, so you could take them off and look at it. They had to have been taken off to paint them, if not, they should have been.

Remove the shutters. Plant something in front of those windows instead. Charcoal for the roof.
