My kitchen board is coming along, any thoughts?

What is the layout of this kitchen? Where are all of these materials to be used? What are the two tones of wood used on? What is the floor made of? Where is the rock going? I can't understand the need for rock in a kitchen. Any inspiration pics?

As Kendrah mentioned, we need more information. A mood board does nothing unless we can see the style of the home and where those materials will be used.

I am not loving the white Quartz countertop with the large fake looking veining. That trend has come and gone. Plus it does not go with the rustic Travertine rock or any of your other finishes, IMHO.

If you are planning the travertine rock as the backsplash, that will be a cleaning nightmare.

I do like your other choices though! Is the lighter wood cabinet door for the island and the ”Pointing cabinet color” the perimeter cabinets?

    What is the dark flooring?

Decoration without bones is meaningless and useless. But, if you are thinking of that awful rock for a splash, you must love futile cleaning and a lot of pain.

This isnt exact but a good idea of layout. the left wall will be covered from floor to cieling with cabinetry. I want a natural stone back wall for the right wall. Hood will be covered, with moulding & matching cabinet color. The paint color is for the cabinets. Simply white is the paint color for the other walls of the kitchen. Inspiration pic below that is has the same exact cabinet color and flooring. I dont like tile for backsplash and open to suggestions.

entry has a tv area? explain that.....people come into the entryway and have to walk through the kitchen to the hall to get to living room or ? great room? It would be better to wrap the 218 and 160 inch walls with your fridge sink and stove . People dont have to walk thru the kitchen and bump into the cook every time once kitchen is off to the side. Put a coffee bar and /or your pantry cabinetry in the corner with the 105 and 140 inch walls / you could use a small round table there also.

This is a large space. It doesn't return function for the space. My first response is to put the main kitchen components on the left wall and the left back wall. The plan you show lacks good work zone width. It's cramped because of the hall opening. Induction range on the wall and a CSO can go on the island. The wall of storage would be 12" deep shelves behind doors. All drawers for base cabinets. A comprehensive task and ambient light plan.

First improve your kitchen layout. Many here can comment on that. Do you have actual drawings showing cabinet layout? Then you choose your finishes.

But... about finishes, why not paint the walls, ceiling, and cabinets pointing? Why choose two different colors? If the dark wood is for the floors and the cabinets are all painted, what is the light wood for?

I don't understand doing a random rock finish on a wall. I get it in an old home that actually has a rock wall in it. But it seems an odd choices to throw on as a finish.

The window on the left wall is a great window, covering the entire wall. thats why my layout ended up how it did. we entertain alot and have the island as a central zone. we have a huge rock wall fire place that covers the room next to it. As i said before i am open to suggestions for a back splash on the right corner wall. there will be no upper cabinets. there is alot of room around the island between outer counters. 3 people could be walking around each other no problem. i am remodeling the entire house aside from the fireplace room because it has great character and original.

thank you for the feedback. any backsplash ideas that are not subway tile would be welcomed.

we want to keep plumbing in the same area as to why the kitchen sink is remaining on the right wall. plus i hate island sinks.

Would like to note bedrooms are down that hall so aside from my husband and kids no one goes down there or uses that restroom. guests go down stairs.

Yes, plus I want to see a room whose character avoided the remodel!

since the window is large that provides light. why dont you turn the island to run up and down then add an overhang and stools. then use the 160 inch wall and the corner up to the window ..Along with island and generous overhang / stools now facing window , you get a real island kitchen . The 105 and 140 inch walls are for coffee bar and extra pantry storage then. It doesnt make sense to scrunch the kitchen into the small corner......and island stools facing the hall?? use the space you have .

That island is horrible. It doesn't fit, and it's a blockade. The space is 100% better as a breakfast room and kitchen, rather than the unworkable food prep space with obstacles.

Another vote against the rock backsplash. Your countertop is on the elegant side and a rock backsplash feels more like a country kitchen with a butcher block countertop. Look at Tilebar.com for a TON of gorgeous tiles that can complement the look you are going for (minus the rock).
