First, you need color and texture in the room. Instead of changing the wall right now, add a narrow sofa table behind the sofa with matching lamps on either end, and a tall plant in the corner in a nice colorful pot. Add colorful, textured pillows. Consider painting the gallery photo frames the same color as your trim, and spred them out a bit to give a bit of breathing room to the arrangement.

great idea, but it usually looks better when the whole room is done.

What is on the other walls? Is there a spot where you can actually end the accent?

@Sammie J thank you for yoir feedback. I like the idea of a long table and lamps. i updated the post..I do have a large bird of paradise plant as youll see on the right.. If i didnt add the table, what kind of simple wall design do you think could go here?

@Lyn Nielson thanks for your comment. the accent would just be on this wall as the other has windows, a tv on top of the fireplace, not a lot of wall to play with and then is open to the kitchen.

Show a pics of your whole room with the plant in place. It sounds like an amazing plant, which can have a sculptural feel in the space. Don't ignore it when considering this wall.

@Kendrah thank you for the commment. i updated the picture to show it. I do love this plant and it is the best place for it.

The gallery wall is mounted too high and too tight The layout is good but it should be spread out a bit.

Instead of a grouping of photos/artwork I will suggest one larger dramatic piece that has color and pattern. Adding end table would also be a very nice touch.

@simplynatural Thank you for this picture. I like the simplicity of this, would thicker woodwork still work? or would it look off because of the frames? I do like that type of lamp on the side, gives it symmetry. I am going to look for something like this.

Are these framed pictures your photos or something you bought on line as gallery? If there is no inherent value, then maybe on piece of art (with some color, not black and white) would present better. Think green in the art.

@elcieg, yes, these are photos we've taken over the years.

Consider painting the wall behind the pictures a contrasting color. Maybe a midrange terracotta. Then swap out the pillows on the sofa for a some with the terracotta color with blue.

Adding a couple larger frames with artwork and widen the array in a more haphazard way beyond the lines of the sofa.

Thank you @Renee. Instead of doing woodwork, this would also be a great option. When you say artwork, like 1 long photo on each side? Stay with black and white? or something else?

@Terri Williams Thank you for your comment. This room only has 3 walls. This wall faces the kitchen and breakfast area. The wall on the left of the pictures is this same color and the other on the right is a darker green. Do you think I could pull another shade of color behind the frames? The rest of the walls in this area are all the same as the pictures wall.

I would mix up the collage. I like Lynn’s example. Maybe different frame color too. It would better show off the your photos.

This is not so haphazard but goes beyond the lines of the console. Here, the wide mats give your eyes a chance to focus on individual photos. I find your collection a little tight. Being picky though!!!!

I do not love wall collage designs they are not easy to see and for sure not behind a sofa Maybe frame all of those in matching frames with proper sized mats and put in a halways where they can be seen and do a nice large single piec of art behind the sofa . The use color from the art for accent color in pillows maybe a throw and none of thta cheap looking trim on the walls but maybe a wall color from the art You also need better lighting and thta plant needs a much bigger pot since it looks like it is real.

@Dee C, yes, the moldings could be wider (assuming that's what you meant by "thicker"). Here they're widened a bit and given more shape/profile. You can adjust spacing of your photos to stay within wider moldings. But that brings up a limitation of picture-frame moldings like this: they dictate furniture and art arrangement, since those should make sense with the wall's pattern. That's fine if you plan to stay with one arrangement, not so fine if you like to rearrange. An all-over decorative treatment like Beverly showed allows more flexibility.
