We are looking to remodel our master bathroom. Mostly I want a new shower. It used to have a sliding glass door that leaked all over the drywall near the shower and that, combined with the lack of fan in there has created a musty smell. I want to tear it all out and start fresh.

Since we are tearing out and redoing the shower, I'm debating if/how the layout might need to change. The toilet/shower area is a little cramped with the door swinging in so maybe add a pocket door? We need all the closet space we have there but absolutely hate the doors we have. I'm looking at tearing out the whole closet and putting in Ikea pax closets all along that wall. If there's anything we need in this house it's more storage!

As for the counter, right now (and for the past 12 years) the counter becomes a cluttery mess of clothes and hair supplies piled up until we tidy it up. There is a plumbing line to add another sink but we've lived here 12 years and plan to stay forever and have never felt the need for a second sink in there. We are thinking a linen cabinet or something might be nice at the end of the counter, but the long counter does make the whole thing feel more open and I wonder if putting in a cabinet would feel cramped?

Thoughts on making the toilet area less cramped and adding more practical storage space overall?

Is there a practical way to redesign this and maximize storage?
