Slate blue would be great. The garage door is interesting. The problem is the too strong contrast between the tan and the brown. If they did the door all one color or the crosshatches in a very slightly lighter shade of blue, it would look much better.

I'd paint the entire garage door the same color and not highlight the trim.

Trimming the hedges will help because you will be able to see the brick better, which is a nice feature of the house, especially if it ties in with a new paint color.

I agree. No slate blue, or any dark blue on this house. An olive or sage green that is more of a medium color would look great on the house.
