The height of the ceiling shouldn't be a factor, but your needs and balance are, and also sounds like the view is important. Can you provide a to-scale floor plan, with measurements from the island to the far wall. There seems to be room to move the seating back, while still having a decent walk-through.

If you decide a sectional is more conducive for your family, then place the shorter side across the window which will help with the view and the length‘s location will be better as well, both practically and visually. Suggest a more bulky design/deep seat and decide if you want a chaise section. Hold off on adding tables, rug, plants, etc until it’s in place.

Couch: again if moved back, you could add two chairs by window and if room, a console behind it would help balance the visual weight of the piano. Don’t buy chairs or a console until couch is in place.

I will give you my thoughts on any sectional. They are the most expensive way to get the least number of comfy seats. Arm rests= comfort so 2 people get them, so taht is 2 comfy seats on a poiece of furniture totally site specific often so never move . A sofa and 2 chairs give you 5 seats one with no armrest annd the bonus is you can arrange those pieces usually no matter where you might move to.. As for your space I see no need for a sectional at all.

You can select a sofa with two lounge chairs or a sectional. It depends on how you live.

You might want to consider an ottoman with a sliding table feature.

Never sat on a sectional I found comfortable. If you are a cuddler, pile of bodies on top of each other type, you may be a sectional person.

Generally, there are a handful of sectional-lovers posting here, but the majority of posters are not.

How often is the piano used? Does someone play while others listen? I would want to flip this plan so the pianist can face their audience and the bulk of the seating looks towards them and the view. The slider is 16 ft wide! x 9 ft H!! you won't be blocking too much view.

I am not a fan of a sectional so I would probably do 2 sofas or a large sofa and some comfy chairs
