The only top-loading washer I'd purchase would be the Speed Queen "Classic Clean" TC5.

Top load ... I would take a good look at the LG models and Speed Queen.

We have an Electrolux which replaced a 3 yr old Samsung. Samsung one had problems as soon as the extended warranty finished. It is pretty robust and we are very happy with it

None. I would not buy a toploader if I needed a new machine.

If I were to be looking for a TL at this time, I would look for a classic machine, and when I say classic, I mean vintage. There is not one new TL on the market I would consider, and that includes the current SQ models. I am happy with my 2017 SQ TL analog model, but I can see myself buying a FL in a few years when it is time to replace it.

I collect washing machines. I have many toploaders, oldest being a 1950 Frigidaire, newest a 2010 Fisher & Paykel. All of them are notable in some way, for mechanical design no longer produced or unique features. Majority need clean-up or some sort of refurbishment/repair. Current arrangement has four daily-usable, two can be immediately swapped-in.

I absolutely would buy a frontloader for new if that became necessary.

I would have to do what could be an expensive remodel of my laundry if insistant on a front loader. I have custom cabinets with undercabinet lighting over my laundry sink, folding counter, washer and dryer. I would need a pedestal of some type under the front load washer and I'm short at least an inch under the cabinets. Built in place.

I've never owned anything but Maytag. I have to sadly admit they are no longer the same quality they once were. I'd be intrigued by the top load Speed Queen my SIL just purchased. It takes a smaller load size than any I've had in years but i'm sure I coud adapt.
