Are you planning removing the carpet and matching the rest of the flooring? I am happy you do not have the TV above the FP but the morror does not belong there either . I would do 2 sofas where the ends meet in an L shpe one will fac the TV dead on the other at an angle I usually almost ignore the angled FP and this is kind of what I mean by layout . Please do not be tempted to do asectionl but 2 sofas is a much better way to go . Find ones you love no recliners and then see what other pieces you might be able to fit. I would look at besta from Ikea for the space since what you have is too small scaled for the FP size. Besta will allow the TV to be placed at the proper viewing height give you some staoage and a bit of display space too.Sort of like this you really put the pieces together to be custom for you

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I am going furniture shopping this weekend and will look for a separate set vs a sectional. We didn’t plan on replacing the carpet right away but I appreciate the feedback. I’m looking for something else to go over the fireplace; was trying out different options but the mirror is going away. There is a hole in the brick we need to cover from where the previous owner had a tv mount.

So for planning to take place the first decision has to be where the TV will be placed.

Over the fireplace or on the wall.

The opening for the fireplace is a bit strange. I have corrected it in the photo.

Based on the architecture of the home, if you select the wall for the TV, then consider a wall mounted media cabinet below the TV to keep a minimal solution.
