Help selecting siding for coastal home

We have to select siding color for our home that is yet to be built. Results from searching online are revealing elaborate homes so it's hard for me to envision colors on our simpler home. Our siding will be Certainteed Cedar Impressions on top two floors and plank type horizontal siding on ground floor. I was thinking wood look front door and garage doors and door to balcony white. Our surroundings are pretty sparse as this home will be on the bay. It's a narrow lot with no trees and only dune type growths so I was leaning away from the popular darker blue and I'm not a fan of gray. I'm at a loss and it's a big decision which could make or break our home:(

1. Any suggestions on a good color or color combination considering our cottage/craftsman style and barren location?

2. should top balcony door and front door be same material?

3. Should garage doors match front door?

4. Should bottom level be a different color??

I've attached a photo of a similar home along with our house plans front and back. Also Certainteed cedar impressions colors.

I know I"m asking alot and I don't know where to look for help so please be kind:)

I like the cypress with any of the wood tones in the left column

It would blend nicely with a beach landscape IMO

No the garage doors don't have to color match the front door and the front door does not have to be the same as the balcony door if you were planning like the house you show ( although your plans show the door as the same exact style/size, so in that case I would match them ). I really like the idea of the lower level being a different color ( especially a wood look ) .

Take your time, get more opinions ( there are some great designers on here who will guide you) !!

Vinyl siding on a house close to the water? That would not be my selection. Have you checked with your insurance company to determine if your rates will be determined by the exterior materials you select?

Things change all the time.. The insurance companies down here don't want to see asphalt shingles on roofs anymore. They are adjusting the premiums to benefit metal roofs.

I would lean toward one color and different styles (lap, shakes etc) or same style with different colors - not sure I would do different styles & colors since the transoms give a busier feel to the exterior, but just personal preference

I like the flagstone with crisp white trim, wood look garage doors and a fun coral colored front door but maybe too bold?

desert tan would is a low key look in the dunes - very pretty!

IMO already a very busy facade on your home keep the siding to all one direction and color . IMO too many grids everywhere looks like a grid show room . No shake style either . Simple finishes at most 2 are best on homes and you have way too many . IMO all horizontal siding , garage doors with one row of window and the rest slab , and no grids in the windows .

The sample house has horizontal boards not shingles for the siding. I wonder if you can do the same? I do prefer the look and the ease of maintaining a hortzontal board.

Coastal home in the south, I assume. Not New England, for sure.

How about white? White for garage/lower level as well.

Paint ceiling of porch haint blue.
