We just finished a huge staircase remodel. New railings, newel posts, and balusters. Stairs and railings stained to match red oak wood floors. Now, we have to do something with the fireplace mantel. It is in the old golden oak stain that used to be on the stairs and floors. 72” oak mantle. I don’t know if we need to stain it to match the stairs and floors. Tv console is darker in clear hickory. Included a picture of the kitchen hood which is trimmed in a dark stain in walnut. I do not think a rustic mantel fits the decor of the house. My husband dislikes colonial style. Open to ideas. Yes we could use the same mantel, but it would have to be stripped. Too many layers and ins and outs to sand it. Thoughts of what would look good?
