You posted all of this previously not too long ago what happened? You should continue on the same post not start another one.

Are you also getting new railings? That's going to make a difference on placement.

Personally, 5 3/4-6 inch are not very beefy, but if keeping the same number, go with 6" post. I'd go with 8" if you want to space them out more. Mine are 10" post.

@nhb22 Yes, I am getting new railings as well. I was afraid anything bigger than 6" would look too bulky, but yours look great. I have a contractor coming out this week. Hoping he will have some ideas as well.

Your home is desperate for some new landscaping. Be creative with the columns and railing.

The post on my front porch are also 10" and spaced out (large porch!)

The screened porch post (shown above) are closer together because of the screen width. Plus, they provide a bit of privacy.
