Where can you get 4x4 tile in colors (not rustic or handmade)

last year

I am looking for ceramic or porcelain tile for a midcentury bathroom.

I need 4x4 (approximate) squares that are precise enough for tight grout lines and not handmade or lumpy or otherwise rustic.

Daltile/AO and B&W have the right style but not the right colors.

Any suggestions? thanks!

    Try Heritage Tile.

Thank you. They look pretty good. I'm adding to my sample collection. 😁

I can't tell if you are trying to replace or remodel. If you are looking to replace broken tile this place may help you. https://claysquared.com/

I usually see regular 4x4 tile in the big box stores and tile shops around here. Big box stores don't usually have the variety of colors that the tile shops do.

Daltile literally has almost any color you would ever need between their Color Wheel and their Natural Hues and Color Match options.

Thanks everyone. This is for a remodel.

Daltile doesn't have the color I want but I do like the style and trim options. I'll have another look at the natural hues line, though, just to confirm.

The Colormatch is tempting but 500 sq. ft. minimum order is probably more than I want, even if I tiled every surface in my 6x8 bathroom. 😛

You would come darn close to 500 sq ft of tiled surface in that bathroom if you tiled every surface like they used to. Of course, the 50 tile labor bill to do that is the reason that it doesn’t get done anymore, except at the highest level of home project.

The reason that more of the color baths does not get done is not just the tile labor though. It is the long lead time for all the parts and pieces needing to be Made to Order. If you break a pink bullnose, and have waited 6 months for it, are you really going to wait another 6 months for a single piece? Or are you going to 5x over order non returnable pieces? With that plant being in Mexico, you can bet the price for all that just went up too.

That's why I'm disappointed about Daltile/AO's color selection not being what I want. They have all the trim pieces in white and I planned to combo white and something else. I also like their through-body porcelain mosaics in complementary/matching colors for the floor. I just don't love the colors for this application.

(I have one room done in Fireclay and another in Pratt & Larson with all the special order trim pieces so I know all about the long lead times. And I do have a stash of spare parts because why not? But I am replacing a bathroom tiled 70 years ago and the tile is still perfectly fine where the previous owner didn't take a hammer to it so I am not worried about needing replacement parts. The other original bathroom doesn't need any replacement tile yet.)

You can’t gripe about it ”not being what I want”when they literally will make any color you want. But they already have all the blues, greens greens, pinks, yellows, lavenders, and even burgundy. What color could you possibly want that they don’t have????

I am looking for additional manufacturers of a particular style of 4x4 tile. Some helpful Houzz users have shared some with me so I am glad I asked.

I realize I can get a color custom made. Thank you for repeating that.
