Where would you place the trash on this design

heading says it all: where would you out the trash bin? currently it is between the range and pizza oven in the design. my contractor made an error when constructing the kitchen framing and forgot to put a space for it…. our options are: 1) add it on to the peninsula side but this will shorten the walkway to 40 inches 2) he will fix his error and put it in its original spot. husband wants to add it to peninsula bc he thinks its weird between the grill and pizza and far from the sink, i think its weird and cramped to put it on peninsula and shorten the walkway so much.

please help us settle the debate!

I would not reduce the size of the walkway for a trash pull out. In fact, a trash pull out in an outdoor kitchen space is kind of a mixed idea, especially if you don’t use that kitchen every day. You can easily forget to empty the trash or believe it to be empty when it’s not and attract vermin to the house. I would go for a freestanding trash bin that gets emptied into the garbage with every use.

These two areas A and B are of similar width (I know he forgot to frame B). Can you just have him frame A for a trash pull out and correct his error by framing in that extra burner and whatever else in spot B? There seems to be a lot of spacing between the different elements as envisioned. Surely there is wiggle room.

Removing all the trash as you clean this kitchen after use is the first priority, as mentioned above. The simplest setup to make that easy would be my choice. I use a small, saved plastic grocery bag hanging from a knob or hook inside the sink base door. Whatever amount of trash you create during your one-time cook will not fill it. Then move it into your kitchen trash as you clean up.

The trash needs to be gone every time you cook so a small trash can lined with a plastic bag that goes into the large trash can that is animal proof and I would do the samll can under the sink

I have seen stainless steel in-counter trash hatches (round) that either drop into a chute leading to a regular container or have a bucket inside that is removed from the top. I would probably do the self-contained bucket that you remove every time you are done using the kitchen. And I would put it to the left of the sink where it shows two gray containers on your countertop.

I'd swap the cabinet to the right of the sink with the trash pullout or just put a small kitchen trash bin under the sink. Either way, you'll be emptying it every day you use it. If having a large party, you'll end up using a large outdoor trash can with a big black trash bag that will never fit in a kitchen.
