When providing a photo of the chairs, include one of the room as flooring, window treatment, wall color, and accessories will have a big influence. Also, advise how comfortable you are with mixing patterns.

Do you need a new sofa? I like the green. It's the rug that is the problem. It's too small and doesn't go with the flooring.

I concur that the sofa is not a problem with the red chairs. You need a new rug to pull it all together. I think a gold or beige sofa in here is too literal and boring. There is something a bit more complex and sophisticated about the mix and match you have going on with the current furniture.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily the right rug. But it deomonstrates more broadly how sage, red, and beige can all coexist together and look fantastic.

I see the corner of a pillow peaking out in the bottom right of your photograph. Can you place that on your green sofa and post a picture of the whole room with that pillow on it?

Art work and a larger rug in a palette that echoes the current sofa and chairs make them work together. Rugs Direct and other rug companies will let you filter colors, size, shape. Order the smallest rug as a test so you can easily send it back, or not, for a larger one

I agree that a new rug would help. If you want to keep the sofa then look for a rug that will help pull the two colors together. I personally think the green and red, while they can work, is also a little too contrasting. I would look for a rug that you like that goes well with the chairs and then get a sofa that is more neutral - grey or beige would be my preference. Add pillows that pull over some of the red and hang artwork above the sofa. Looks like you need some lamps so you don't have just overhead lighting. Greenery also keeps the look fresh.

Brits are so masterful at pulling off color combos that Americans never attempt.

The current green sofa — it fights a little with the red tones instead of complementing them.
