Elongated Lot Tropical Country

last month

Hi everyone!

I’m from the Philippines and I’m planning to build a home on my 338 sqm lot. The lot is elongated/rectangular, about 10.7 m wide (fronting the road) and around 31 m deep.

I’m a bit confused about what kind of house design and layout would make the best use of the space, especially for a tropical climate.

Here’s what I’m hoping for:
• A two-storey home with about 5 bedrooms (including a guest room and maid’s room)
• Open, airy layout with lots of natural light and cross-ventilation
• Modern but homey aesthetic — clean lines, but still warm and inviting
• A balcony for the master’s bedroom
• Dirty kitchen, lawn/garden, and space for 2–3 cars
• Design ideas that help keep the house cool (best roof type, window placement, wall materials, etc.)

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone familiar with narrow or elongated lot designs in tropical countries — or examples of similar homes.

Thank you so much for your insights! 🙏
