I'd leave the window wall open and face one of the sofas toward the window, floating in the space, with chairs to form a cozy conversation area, ottoman in the middle.

I hope you have a different room to create a playroom. with losts of storage and bright fun colors, and a work table for projects, not right at the front door.

Understand. May we have some measurements of the room that includes doors, windows and openings as well as a picture of the room with your back to window and the large couch? That sure would help a lot.

Sorry no play space at the entry to your home please . Waht do you want to do in the space ? I dislike adult conversation in a space with TV so for me my LR is taht space and the media room for TV, often the FR for TV is the norm

I assume you hve aFR so IMO that can be the play space with some well planned storage, TV and a bit of display then that front space with a sofa 2 chairs anice coffee table lamps etc and art all a way to use the space well

I wouldn't get rid of any of the furniture until your children grow up and you don't need a playroom. I would replace the rug with something fun and colorful, and get some inexpensive canvase art.
