This is an old layout. Don't have black chairs anymore. Thanks

although I don't understand the black chairs statement, I think the sofa end tables and lamps look crowded along that wall. Move it all the the longer wall and spread out a bit.

Put the loveseat on that wall with some artwork and open up the space. Room for another comfortable chair.

Lyn, i don't have black chairs anymore. This is just furniture arrangement. Will get art soon. Thanks

Like you had it before, but just without the black chairs! No need to block the view into the room with anything.

It looks like you could easily keep the same layout as when you had the black chairs, just remove the black chairs. You could add a chaise lounge there, one swivel chair, or keep it blank to access the slider easier. Below is a design of ours to show you the L-shape we made with two sofas in a design of ours near a slider:

    Not too great : )

Please DRAW the room. measure all solid walls, windows, openings EACH have their own dimensions.

A better layout will come back to you.

Call it homework for the best advice.

Oh my gosh - Why did you start a new conversation thread on the same topic? All your feedback was on the previous one.

I didn't understand the "I don't have the black chairs anymore" until @bearbev let us know there is another post with lots of suggestions. Again, why? Will you let us know what all those wonderful posters suggested or do we have to go and read them?

Guys, this post is only about layout. Decorating and buying a new chair was on previous post. I got a very good recommendation. Thanks

Why do people buy furnishings before they have a furnishings layout?

No one can reach your coffee table because it is so woefully undersized for the scale of the seating you purchased.

You easily could have kept it all in one thread. :)

I prefer the layout with the black chairs but think one chair would be better.

Here is the other thread. She is looking for just one chair with the other layout.

Hey, great question, and I totally see where people are getting stuck. From what I can see, the version you had when the black chairs were in place actually had the strongest flow and balance, it kept pathways open, gave each seating piece room to “breathe,” and didn’t block visual access into the room. Many commenters kind of echoed that: “just remove the black chairs… no need to block the view into the room with anything.

In terms of tweaks: I’d shift your sofa + end tables to the longer wall and spread them out a bit so things don’t feel cramped. Put in a café or accent chair off to one side rather than clustering too much on one wall. And turn your rug so its long edge is parallel to your longer sofa that aligns the whole sitting zone better with the room’s shape.

Also, don’t feel pressured to fill every nook with furniture, leaving a “breathing space” near the sliding door or entrance gives better balance and avoids visual clutter. If you like, I can mock up 2–3 refined layouts for your room (based on its actual dimensions) so you can see side-by-side what works.
