Jack and Jill with Shared Shower Space…any ideas?

Hi! We’re renovating 2 current bathrooms. Everything is gutted down to the perimeter walls. Plumbing and electrical all gone, so all ideas are options! I have 2 girls who realistically could easily share a shower space. I’m seriously considering building them back as a modified Jack and Jill style. I’d like each bath to house a good size vanity and toilet. Then for the 2 rooms to connect to a shared shower room. I can’t find any plans online to start my brainstorming. If you know of any, or have any ideas, please share! For reference, we already have a large primary bath with tub and huge walk in shower as well as another full bath an bedroom in the finished basement. This would make our home a 5 br/3.5 house which I’m comfortable with. This bath will be used by guests so I need to keep that in mind as well. Attaching our original floorplan. I’m ok with losing the hall closet. The linen closet in the hall bath can move but i definitely need the storage it provides. The hall bath doorway can move a few inches, but otherwise needs to stay in its general vicinity. The bedroom doorway to the bath can move to the other end of the wall, but not the middle of the wall. I need at least 70” of wall space in that room. THANK YOU!

You need to keep this all to one post rather than starting another. Lots of the same info is going to be needed and you will get redundant questions and advice and honestly annoy people who answered on the other post.

My two girls share a bathroom. It’s accessed via the hallway still though and then shave the toilet and shower in one part with a pocket door and the sink area in front of that. Each girl has a sink, cupboard and three drawers. Jack and Jill anything is not good in my opinion. One door in.

@millworkman - I'm sorry to have annoyed you! Honestly, I don't see this as asking for the same information at all. As the title states, any ideas for a shared shower space only? I've searched the discussions already and hadn't seen but 2 discussing that sort of layout. If I was someone who had come looking for those same ideas, my original post that is discussing 4 specific floor plan options would never come up on my search query. I personally would be happy with anyone just sharing ideas or referencing links to any designs they may have seen with that concept. I started to post just the question, without any floorplan - but I knew as soon as I did, if anyone wanted to offer any advice, they would want to know what the current space was to work with. So I opted to go ahead and include it.

Did not annoy me, but it is essentially the same topic and the same floor plan about the same bathrooms, just worded differently. Like I said I don't care.

So you have all these walls down and want to move the hall bath in between the two bedroom?

I think the only way that would work would also shrink each of the bedrooms and leave alot of closet space one the ensuite side.

Our J&J bath has sink and linen closet which opens to each room and like yours the toilet and tub/shower combo is a separate room off that. We had sibling drama over sharing the sink but each had their drawers and cabinets.

you might could put both bathrooms at end of hall so plumbing lines are close together, then have one that opens to a bedroom and the hall and the other as a private ensuite. that would make closets in old bathrooms and one kid would still have access bath through hall. Maybe just a shower and toilet between rooms and sinks in the bedrooms could work. Moving plumbing may not by worth it.

@kathleen MK - I'm so sorry, I mispoke without enough details on exactly which perimeter walls I was talking about! We have the walls down between the en suite bath, hall bath, coat closet and linen closet in the hall bath. Thats the space we're working with. Im curious how I could work a bathroom with a vanity, toilet & linen closet off the hall way, a bathroom with a vanity and toilet off the en suite and have those 2 connect to a shared shower room. The space in green is what we're reworking.

I would also suggest you delete this post and just add your new questions and concerns to the old one.
