Renovating Kitchen replacing pantry with cabinets

Removed wall and walk in pantry because the refrigerator door couldnt open all the way. Unfortunarely the pantry was hiding an enclosed furnace duct. Also removed upper drywall in pantry (above lower level closet) to reveal extra space for a cabinet or open shelving. Trying to maximize space while maintaining continuity of the kitchen.

I was thinking of a floor to ceiling pullout cabinet in front of the duct. Or a mini broom cabinet?

What kind of custom cabinet would work in the corner?

Before removing wall/closet

Excuse my mess

What is the plan for the entire kitchen please?

What did you plan BEFORE you began tearing out walls?

Is there a drawing and hard measure of the old space, 2 d on paper? That is where a kitchen begins.

What is in front of the peninsula, a patio slider? Windows?

A kitchen reno starts with a measure and a plan..... every wall, window, opening each with its own dimension

Do one for where you are now. Are you keeping cabinetry, appliances,,,,,,WHAT?

Do your version of this, graph paper is fine, to scale, and notice the walls have a thickness , windows sit within a wall.

Include breakfast area, a slider etc.....

I always want to know the WHY when I find odd things in a home. Now you know why the 'pantry'-awkward space w/mechanicals. Most would have boxed it in and 'wasted the space' I suppose. sigh

Will that new closet have doors? It's hard to tell the depth of the walkway space, but will the doors be able to open with the fridge there? I'd just make it full of shelves to use as storage for kitchen items or food. I don't think it'll function well as a broom closet since it's not a full sized to the floor space. The main problem is the fridge still looks too large for the space even with the wall gone. Are there plans to switch it to a counter depth fridge?

You’re facing a smart renovation decision. Replacing a pantry with built-in cabinets can give you more flexible storage and a cleaner look, but it’s important to get the layout and storage functions right. First, think about access and visibility: one of the pantry’s strengths is items being grouped and visible; your new cabinet system needs to replicate that so you don’t lose intuitive use.

Choose full-height cabinets for bulk storage and, if possible, include pull-out mechanisms or internal drawers so things at the back aren’t forgotten. On the finish side, match or complement your kitchen’s cabinetry to maintain flow, this tweak should feel like an upgrade, not a retrofit. And ensure that your new cabinets don’t block the visual flow or introduce awkward door swings.

Do you need the storage? What's on the other side of the 'pantry'? Perhaps it would be a cleaner look to use the space in a bedroom or bath?

I need a to scale floor plan of the whole kitchen including this "walk in" pantry . Are you replacing all the cabinets ot just adding them in this werd space . The floor plan needs to show the whole space every measurement clearly marked and posted here in jpeg format in a comment . Now you use this post to answer and ask questions in comments too.All the things Jan asked and probably many more qestions . The time to get help is before you rip out walls but too late for that but stop now before you just do another thing that makes no sense .
