I mean the room looks pretty complete. Having the bar area open isn’t my style at all but it’s definitely set up and seems to work in the space.

It’s an elegant room, but I’d change a couple of things:

The multiple bottles on display is a bit much for me. I don’t think I would have them in both the bar wall inset as well as setting on the dark buffet. And the tacky Bar sign needs to go away.

The rug doesn’t blend well with the chairs. It gives off a cool gray vibe, but the chairs are warm cream.

What a beautiful table and before deciding on specifics, maybe suggest to her to look on line for inspiration/decide on an overall feel that appeals to her, as there are so many directions she could head. Right now it’s a mix of styles and room will be just lovely with a more coordinated approach.

Sugest choosing the chairs first as their style will dictate the rest. Not knowing how much she is willing to change, here is one look and how to get there. The table will pop, as it should! Good luck and have fun.

Rethink how the sideboard is accessorized and take advantage of the lower storage.

Paint the back of the insert the same color as wall. Edit, bump it up visually/store things.

    I love the new table.

    I would replace the rug,

    • add drapery panels at the windows (they do not need to function),
    • remove the small cabinet,
    • replace the light fixture with a linear one that complements the table.

The table is very nice, but it seems to be a bit large for the room, so I wouldn't place any chairs at the ends. If the table has a leaf in it, I would remove it unless needed.

I also think the table looks too large for the room. Hopefully it has a leaf that you can remove and just insert as needed for large dinner functions. I think the chairs compliment the table but agree a different rug that better compliments the color of table and chairs would be ideal. Remove the small chest under the window as well as what appears to be a bar fridge next the the large cabinet. I don't think the large dark cabinet flatters the room and would look to using the built in cabinet and shelving for glassware and storing liquor bottles. Agree with changing out the light fixture to a linear one. Also, drapery panels to glam up the room a bit....right now the overall feeling is a bit "blah" to me.

I am conflicted about her style I hate the bar cabinet with the table and I have always disliked those beeded chandeliers so that is whare I would start remove the cabinet get a lower one a bit wider and hide the booze then a nice linear light over the table . I do not think ther eis space for 2 cabinets

The table seems long - what are the dimensions of the room? I think that the chairs look worn (or if they are new, the color isn't right for the table). They just look a bit dingy to me.

Not on topic - but something that is bugging me is how the board and batten height + the height of the niche bar/door are not the same (throw in the height of the window trim = a lot of vertical lines at different heights). It just looks off.

It may be easier to build up the moulding on the top of the niche shelves area + door in order to have it match the style/height of the board and batten (I think board and batten looks better when it covers 2/3rds of the wall - however, I don't know if that would make the heights match + I imagine that it would be more difficult to lower the height of it to match the heights of the door + niche shelf).

I also think that it would look better to have doors on the recessed niche area if it's going to be used to hold bottles of alcohol + the back of the niche should match the trim paint.
